EXIMBANKA SR supported Slovak export to Uzbekistan by insuring the buyer’s credit

EXIMBANKA SR, through its insurance division, signed on 17 October 2025 an insurance contract with UniCredit Bank Czech Republic and Slovakia for the insurance of a long-term export buyer credit to be provided to the Committee for Roads under the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan. The loan will finance the export contract of a Slovak exporter, Betamont of Zvolen, which exports and installs HSWIM dynamic weighing systems together with traffic monitoring and vehicle traffic violations, thus contributing to the improvement of road safety in Uzbekistan.

The export contract was signed by Betamont s. r. o., Zvolen with the Uzbek state agency Avtoyou´linvest, which is the executive body of the Committee for Roads under the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and ensures the construction and development of road and railway infrastructure in Uzbekistan. The total amount of the export buyer’s credit provided by UniCredit Bank is EUR 8,195,617.08 and EXIMBANKA SR, through its insurance division, will cover not only political but also commercial risks.

“As UniCredit Bank, we are proud to stand by projects that support Slovak companies in their international expansion. Financing exports to higher-risk markets like Uzbekistan is proof of our ability to deliver solutions even in more challenging conditions. In cooperation with EXIMBANKA SR, we help companies to implement technologically innovative projects that not only strengthen economic cooperation between countries, but also improve the security and quality of infrastructure in partner countries,” said Jaroslav Habo, Director of UniCredit Bank for Slovakia.

The repayment period of the loan is 12 years, including a 2-year drawdown period during which the equipment is delivered, constructed, installed and put into actual operation.

The advantage for the customer is a long repayment period – 10 years after the equipment is put into operation. For the Slovak exporter, the insurance of the buyer’s credit by EXIMBANKA SR means a significant reduction of risk, since the Slovak company bears the risk only until the completion of delivery and commissioning of the equipment, i.e. approximately 2 years. The risk of repayment of the loan for the next 10 years remains with the commercial bank and EXIMBANKA SR ,” said Michal Demák, Director of the Non-Tradable Risk Insurance Department of EXIMBANKA SR.

The customer credit was granted a concession in accordance with OECD rules and Act No 392/2015 Coll. on Development Cooperation.

Export buyer credit insurance is a key instrument that enables Slovak exporters to enter new, often riskier markets. The project in Uzbekistan is an example of an effective link between the trade and development aspects of our business. The Slovak exporter will gain new business opportunities and the partner country will gain modern technologies that will contribute to the improvement of transport infrastructure and road safety. ,” concluded Milan Horváth, Deputy Director General of EXIMBANKA SR for Insurance.
