Rastislav Podhorec, CEO of Eximbanka, and Matúš Šársky, Director of the International Relations Department, held talks with Peter Stan, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia, and Gabriela Šaturová, Head of Political Team. The topic of the meeting was Eximbanka’s activities and possibilities for further development of mutual cooperation.
Eximbanka has been actively cooperating with the European Commission for a long time, especially in Brussels, and both parties see room for strengthening cooperation in Slovakia. The discussion focused in particular on the possibilities of stakeholder engagement during the visits of the European Commissioners to Slovakia, as well as on the promotion of public discussion on European topics related to key areas of Eximbanka’s operations.
The European Commission is a stable and extremely important partner for us. The importance of this cooperation is constantly growing, and the areas in which we cooperate are also expanding. Projects and initiatives such as the Global Gateway or the Ukraine Investment Framework are now an important part of European economic and investment policy, in which Eximbank is also actively involved to some extent. Long-term expert cooperation has also resulted in Eximbank’s membership of the European Commission’s Expert Group, which provides expert advice in setting policies linking the strategic and commercial interests of the European Union in third countries.
Representatives of Eximbanka also stressed the role of the institution in promoting the interests of Slovak exporters at the European level. As a national export credit institution, Eximbanka actively supports that the priorities of Slovak exporters are also taken into account in the development of European Union policies.
The meeting confirmed the common interest of both parties to continue intensive cooperation in supporting the competitiveness of Slovak exporters and meeting the strategic priorities of the European Union.
