Tomark, a family-owned company based in Prešov, is one of Slovakia’s leading manufacturers of steel structures and components for trucks and trailers. Over more than three decades in business, it has grown from a small engineering firm into a major supplier to the German manufacturer Krone. In addition to traditional engineering production, it has also made a name for itself in the development and manufacture of its own sport aircraft, which it exports to several global markets.
The company’s history began more than 30 years ago, when its founder, Daniel Tomko Sr., established a partnership with the German trailer manufacturer Krone. The company started with about twelve employees and a monthly production of 140 frames. It gradually expanded its production capacity and product range, and today it supplies approximately 800 frames per month; according to the company’s data, one in every four frames for Krone semi-trailers comes from its production. Since 2019, Daniel Tomko Jr. has been at the helm of the family-owned business.
The production of frames and other semi-trailer subassemblies continues to form the core of the company’s business. In addition to its long-standing partnership with Krone, for which it also supplies components for the agricultural machinery segment, the company collaborates with other customers in the freight transport sector. Exports accounted for 85 percent of the company’s revenue in 2025, with its main markets being European Union countries, particularly Germany.
The company’s financial performance in recent years has been influenced by trends in demand on the European market. In 2022, Tomark reported revenue exceeding 46 million euros and net income of nearly 570,000 euros. Following a subsequent decline in revenue to approximately 23 million euros and a loss in 2024, the company managed to stabilize its financial performance. In 2025, its revenue rose to nearly 28 million euros, and the company returned to profitability. It currently employs approximately 240 workers.
An important part of the company’s production diversification is its in-house aircraft program. The company has developed the Viper SD4 and Skyper GT9, two-seat all-metal sport aircraft designed for recreational flying, travel, and pilot training. The first Viper model took flight in 2006, and since then, aircraft manufacturing has gradually established itself as another area of business. Tomark exports approximately 30 aircraft per year, with its markets including the U.S., Turkey, New Zealand, Germany, France, Italy, and Uzbekistan. Aircraft sales and related maintenance services are provided by Tomark Aero, which generated approximately 2.8 million euros in revenue in 2025.
The company’s other development activities are focused on the robotization and automation of manufacturing and logistics processes. Tomark is eligible to receive 4.86 million euros in state funding for an industrial research and experimental development project focused on the use of robotic equipment in logistics management for aircraft manufacturing. By expanding its production capacity, advancing its technology, and pursuing its own aerospace program, the company is strengthening its position in foreign markets and reducing its dependence on the traditional trailer technology segment.
