
At its January meeting, the OECD Consensus member countries decided on a new classification of two countries. Bulgaria and Albania moved up one level in the country risk ranking. Bulgaria has been helped by its imminent entry into the euro area and economic growth, Albania by reform efforts related to the country’s potential EU accession. For export credit agencies, these countries thus represent a lower level of risk as of 31 January 2025.

Trade in services continues to face significant regulatory barriers that hamper economic growth and competitiveness. This is according to the OECD’s latest Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (STRI): Policy Developments to 2025*, a tool that tracks developments in 51 economies around the world and in 22 key services sectors.

Today in Turčianske Teplice a discussion forum – Export Club on the topic of Central Asia was held, organized by EXIMBANKA SR in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFA SR). The aim of the event was to provide Slovak companies with an overview of opportunities for their expansion into Central Asian territories.

In Izmir, Turkey, the official opening of a modern aluminium plant of a Slovak company took place with the participation of a delegation from Slovakia led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Chovanec and the Director General of Eximbank Rastislav Podhorc. Turkey, with its strategic location, is an important trading partner and regional hub between Europe and Asia. Eximbanka’s banking activities have supported Slovak exports to Turkey in the amount of EUR 155.5 million since 2010.

For the second time, Eximbanka is giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to become Exporter of the Year 2024 in the TREND TOP ranking. The award is open to Slovak companies whose export activities contribute to the improvement of the business environment and help build Slovakia’s reputation abroad. Exporters can register for the Exporter of the Year 2024 category until 31 July 2024.
