Istanbul, October 26, 2026
Promoting mutual trade, strengthening institutional ties, and exploring new forms of cooperation in third markets were the main topics of the first meeting of the Slovak-Turkish JETCO Commission, which
took place in Istanbul on October 23, 2026. Eximbanka was represented at the meeting by Rastislav Podhorec, its CEO and Chairman of the Board, and Matúš Šársky, Director of International Relations.
The program included an important meeting between representatives of the state export-credit agency and its partner institution, Turk Eximbank, which culminated in the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This document establishes a solid framework for closer cooperation in the areas of financing, insurance instruments, risk sharing, and joint projects in third countries. To date, Eximbanka has supported Slovak exports to Turkey totaling nearly half a billion euros. The signing of the memorandum with its long-standing partner, Türk Eximbanka, represents another significant step toward strengthening mutual relations and expanding cooperation.
Turkish companies have a strong international presence as turnkey contractors (EPC contractors), while Slovak firms are able to provide top-quality products, modern technologies, and expert subcontracting services. Combining these strengths opens up opportunities for cooperation not only in bilateral trade but also in the implementation of challenging projects in promising foreign markets.
“Combining the experience of Turkish EPC contractors with the technological and manufacturing capabilities of Slovak companies opens up new opportunities for joint projects in third markets. Eximbanka is prepared to support their implementation through its insurance capacity exceeding 2 billion euros,” said Rastislav Podhorec, CEO of Eximbanka.
The JETCO meeting, chaired by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat
, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Denisa Saková, reaffirmed both countries’ shared interest in deepening their economic partnership. At the subsequent roundtable discussion with representatives of the business community, organized at the premises of DEİK — Foreign Economic Relations Board (Turkish Council for Foreign Economic Relations)—Slovak companies had the opportunity to discuss specific forms of export support and risk management.
Through these activities, Eximbanka supports Slovak exporters in developing business relationships
and establishing a presence in foreign markets.
