On 5 June 2025, the EU ECA Summit of Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) took place in Luxembourg. Eximbanka was represented by its CEO Rastislav Podhorec and Matúš Šársky, Director of International Relations. This is the eighth time that Eximbanka has been part of the high-level meeting of ECAs from across the EU.
The main messages of the meeting are:
In many respects, exporters from EU Member States are competitors, but there are significantly more topics on which we need to work together and speak with one voice.
The topics discussed were in particular the cooperation between ECAs and the European Commission in making the Global Gateway Initiative projects a reality, support for the European defence industry and support for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
One of the immediate results of the coordination is an agreement on further joint action by ECAs towards the EU Commission for a more effective involvement of ECAs in the Global Gateway. European ECAs will be represented directly in the Commission by a delegated expert representing their interests.
Much of the attention of ECAs colleagues has focused on Eximbanka, which was the only institution of its type in the EU that was able to participate in the EU’s delegated cooperation instruments.
Thanks to this initiative, Slovak exporters will also be able to participate in projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine within the framework of the UIF.
Eximbanka thus shares its experience with partner ECAs. After years when we usually learned from the more experienced, Eximbanka has the opportunity to pass on practical experience as well.
