Tbilisi, 23. 4. 2026
Representatives of Eximbanka (Igor Barát, Tomáš Kuruc, Dušan Drozda) visited Georgia this week, the main objective of which was to check the status of projects of Slovak exporters implemented in cooperation with Eximbanka. The working programme in Georgia allowed to evaluate their current progress and to identify further opportunities for the development of Slovak companies on the local market.
The visit also included a meeting with the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Georgia Matus Busovsky. The discussion followed the recent official visit of the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili to Slovakia and focused on the current political and economic situation in the country, as well as on the development of bilateral trade relations and prospective areas of cooperation.
The positive trend in bilateral relations is also documented by the significant growth in mutual trade turnover over the last five years. The Agreement between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Government of Georgia on Economic Cooperation signed in October 2025 provides further impetus for the development of cooperation. Priority areas of cooperation include in particular information and communication technologies, energy (with an emphasis on hydropower), automotive industry and agriculture.
“We perceive Georgia as a promising market with growing potential for Slovak exporters. The increase in trade in recent years confirms the growing dynamics of bilateral relations. Our ambition is to continue to actively support export projects of Slovak companies and their application in priority sectors such as IT, energy, industry and water management,” said Igor Barat, Deputy CEO of Eximbanka.

About Eximbanka
As the only direct instrument of the state for export promotion, the Eximbanka is an important part of the chain responsible for promoting the country’s economic policy in the field of external economic relations. It offers a wide range of export-related financial products, especially credit insurance, financing and guarantees. As a state export credit agency, it enables Slovak exporters to enter into trade and investment relations where the commercial financial sector is less interested in taking on risk and therefore performs a complementary function.
