Involvement of Slovak companies in development cooperation

Slovak companies have more and more opportunities to participate in development projects financed by the European Union and international financial institutions. At today’s event organised by SARIO, Eximbanka presented the ways in which it can support Slovak exporters in this process.

Matúš Šársky , Director of the International Relations Department, presented Eximbank’s portfolio of instruments through which it supports export-oriented projects with a development aspect. As a state export credit agency, Eximbanka plays a key role in supporting Slovak exporters, especially in territories where commercial financing is limited by a higher level of risk.

The key instrument is concessional export credits designed to finance the export of Slovak goods and services with a demonstrable development impact. They are provided to public buyers in eligible developing countries under concessional financial conditions, including lower interest rates, the possibility of deferring repayments or extended maturity.

An important area is also represented by the instruments of delegated cooperation of the European Union, which allow Slovak entities to participate in the implementation of projects financed from European resources. Projects are often financed by a combination of loan and grant resources (blending) and focus mainly on sectors such as energy, infrastructure, water, digitalisation or sustainable use of natural resources.

Eximbanka also actively supports the involvement of Slovak companies in international tenders financed by institutions such as the World Bank or the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It assists companies in identifying business opportunities, finding partners, forming consortia, as well as providing financing and bank guarantees necessary for participation in tenders.

The event confirmed the growing importance of development cooperation as an opportunity for Slovak companies to expand into new markets and at the same time contribute to sustainable development in partner countries. Eximbanka is ready to continue to actively support Slovak exports in this segment and strengthen its competitiveness at the international level.
