Representatives of the European Investment Fund (EIF) – Mario Marceta and Barnabás Sándor – visited Eximbanka’s headquarters in Bratislava today, 8 December 2025. They met with CEO Rastislav Podhorc, who confirmed the continued commitment of the bank’s management to deepen cooperation with the EIF in supporting the competitiveness of the EU and thus Slovak exporters.
Subsequently, they had a working meeting with colleagues from the International Relations Department, the Legal Department and the Non-Tradable Risk Insurance Department, with whom they are working together to set up the legal, procedural and administrative formalities related to the implementation of the EIF Export Credit Pilot Programme.
Under this programme, the EIF provides guarantee cover for Eximbank SR transactions related to insurance of short-term export receivables or insurance of export credits directed to Ukraine. The provided guarantee significantly increases our ability to support transactions of Slovak exporters towards our eastern neighbour, with a total insurance portfolio of up to EUR 20 million. EUR
The EIF is part of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group, with which Eximbanka actively cooperates in the implementation of credit lines aimed at supporting the internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises. The cooperation on the EIF Export Credit Pilot is a pilot example of direct cooperation with the European Investment Fund, which – if successful – opens the way for the use of EIF guarantee instruments in future transactions.
