Last week Matúš Šársky, Eximbanka’s International Relations Director, was part of the negotiations between representatives of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and SAMRS and Ukrainian national energy companies Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo directly in Kyiv.
The topic of the negotiations was the implementation of joint projects, attraction of investments and possible participation of Slovak entrepreneurs in the reconstruction of the energy sector of Ukraine. Ukrainian state energy companies Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo are key players in the process of restoration of energy infrastructure and production capacities in Ukraine. In the joint project of Eximbanka and SAMRS under the European Commission’s “Investment Framework for Ukraine”, the so-called UIF, they are also beneficiaries of loan and grant funds for the rehabilitation and modernisation of substations, control systems, the transmission system and the implementation of renewable energy sources into the grid.
Slovak entrepreneurs operating in the energy, technology and infrastructure sectors can participate in the UIF scheme through tenders for implementers of these projects.
If the Slovak entrepreneurs succeed in the tenders, they will become suppliers for the projects of Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo. The implementation of the projects is secured from loan and grant resources provided by Eximbanka and SAMRS with the support of the European Commission.
The projects will mainly concern the reconstruction of substations and transmission systems, but also the preparation of the implementation of combined solar and wind power plants.
“Slovak entrepreneurs have a unique opportunity to apply their professional capacities in the field of energy infrastructure and make a significant contribution to the integration of the Ukrainian energy system with the European market. In case of successful involvement in these projects, Slovak entrepreneurs can thus gain a valuable reference in a promising and dynamically developing market and also be part of the comprehensive transformation of the energy sector of Ukraine,” concludes Matúš Šársky.
