… Japan is geographically one of the Eximbank’s most distant partners – but we are very close thanks to our common themes.
– Japanese exporters are very active in the wider Central and Eastern European region, including Slovakia, and Slovakia has its place on the map of Japanese investors.
– Representatives of Eximbanka, Ing.Rastislav Podhorec, MBA, CEO of Eximbanka and Matúš Šársky, Director of its International Relations, will hold a series of meetings with bilateral partners Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) – Japan has an insurance and banking branch of the state export support divided into two institutions.
– Discussions with NEXI also covered the possibility of formalising cooperation, for example in the framework of one of the meetings of the Berne Union, of which both institutions are members.
– Eximbanka, NEXI and JBIC are interested in deepening cooperation in projects with joint involvement of Slovak and Japanese exporters in third countries, e.g. in Ukraine.
– In Ukraine, Japan is focusing, for example, on supporting the construction of prefabricated accommodation facilities – a sector in which Slovakia also has strong exporters.
– The energy sector, including nuclear and new nuclear technologies such as SMR, is also of interest to both sides.
– A separate topic is the upcoming entry of a Japanese investor into one of the largest Slovak exporters from the metalworking industry in the east of Slovakia. Eximbanka, thanks to its relations with NEXI and JBIC, is ready to cooperate to support further development of production and export capacities within this strategic investment.
– Eastern Slovakia is generally a promising location for companies interested in covering the markets of Ukraine and the geographically close markets of the surrounding region from the safety of a country anchored in the EU and NATO.
