For nearly two decades, Aquatec VFL, based in Dubnica nad Váhom, has been supplying wastewater treatment plants to households, municipalities, hotels, and industrial facilities. Approximately three-quarters of its revenue comes from abroad, and it has already supplied its equipment to more than 50 countries.
In 2025, the company generated revenue of 15 million euros, a net profit margin of 10 percent, and an EBITDA margin of 17.4 percent. This year, it expects revenue to grow by another 10 to 15 percent. Latin American and Caribbean countries currently play a significant role in the company’s exports.
The introduction of uniform European standards opened the door for the company to enter foreign markets. Aquatec was the first manufacturer in the V4 to obtain certification under the new rules, which facilitated its entry into the markets of Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Lithuania, Ukraine, Syria, France, Romania, and Slovenia were added gradually.
Since 2021, the company has expanded its operations to include Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Aruba, and Mauritius. In Santo Domingo, Ecuador, it supplied wastewater treatment plants for a social housing project, and in Benin, it commissioned a treatment plant serving 500 people. On the Caribbean island of Curaçao, it is currently building a wastewater treatment plant for a five-star hotel. The plant is designed to treat 300 cubic meters of wastewater daily, which the hotel will then use for irrigation.
Aquatec VFL manufactures approximately 5,000 residential wastewater treatment systems annually, designed for four to twenty residents. Systems for 50 to 500 people are used by hotels, guesthouses, manufacturing plants, golf courses, and smaller municipalities. Together, these two categories account for approximately 80 percent of total production. The largest treatment plants are designed for municipalities with up to 2,000 residents.
Since 2016, Aquatec VFL has also operated its own extrusion facility for polypropylene sheets, which the company claims is the only one of its kind in Slovakia. It manufactures them from granules, supplies them to other companies, and buys back the offcuts for recycling. In this way, it processes approximately 3,500 metric tons of plastic annually.
Mário Kazda and Michal Cyprian founded the Aquatec brand in 2004. The current company was established three years later. The company’s investments since its inception have exceeded ten million euros. It built its first 600-square-meter facility in 2006. Today, it owns 18,000 square meters of land and 7,000 square meters of production space at the ZŤS complex in Dubnica. It employs nearly one hundred people.
