After a hot summer comes a “hot” autumn. Even in September, temperatures exceed 30 degrees. Literally a hot autumn.
Figuratively speaking, a “hot” autumn awaits us in the next three to four months. In the spring, there has been a lot of discussion about promoting economic diplomacy. All actors, including ministries, associations, chambers and various organisations, discussed how to promote foreign trade and exports, resulting in the emerging Slovak export promotion strategy.
The basic paradigm of the strategy is to promote export activities through business missions with the participation of the highest political level to selected territories with high potential for Slovak companies. Based on discussions among business circles, a consensus emerged in the regions and countries of Central and Central Asia, South-East Asia, Central Africa and Latin America.
The forthcoming plan of business missions is linked to official trips by the President of the Slovak Republic, the Prime Minister, ministers and state secretaries. The autumn will therefore be hot for those entrepreneurs or companies that have an export appetite to penetrate the aforementioned territories.
One of the next foreign business trips is to Azerbaijan, a country that is very much energised by growth, by the will to transform the energy sector, with great potential for construction companies in the transport infrastructure and technology sectors.
A trip to Kazakhstan is in the pipeline for October. Kazakhstan has a spirit of optimistic economic growth and presents significant opportunities for Slovak companies, especially in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Business missions accompanied by the participation of top officials are normally very successful, as they open the door more strongly to Slovak entrepreneurs. However, the ultimate success translated into winning and implementing a business deal is in the hands of the businesses themselves. Eximbanka is ready to ensure their successful penetration of foreign markets through export financing or by issuing guarantees (required by the exporters’ partners) or by insuring bank financing against political or commercial risks.
Eximbanka, which is part of the business missions, is ready to respond promptly not only at bilateral meetings of exporters with their clients directly in selected territories, but also after the Slovak suppliers have won foreign contracts.
