Strengthening long-term cooperation, new opportunities for Slovak companies to participate in development projects, and more effective coordination of the capacities of both institutions were the main topics of yesterday\u2019s meeting between representatives of Eximbanka and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Eximbanka was represented at the meeting by Rastislav Podhorec<\/a>, CEO and Chairman of the Bank\u2019s Board, and Mat\u00fa\u0161 \u0160\u00e1rsky<\/a>, Director of the International Relations Department. The UNDP delegation was led by Susan Brown<\/a>, United Nations Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy, along with Regional Partnerships Specialist Oana Rebedea<\/a> and Program Officer Viera Oroszov\u00e1<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

The discussion focused primarily on ways to leverage UNDP\u2019s regional presence, local knowledge, and development expertise in preparing projects that Eximbanka could support through financing and insurance. Both sides see potential particularly in Ukraine, the Western Balkans, and Central Asia, where the development needs of partner countries can be met by the technologies, know-how, and export capacities of Slovak companies. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cWe have a long-standing partnership with the UNDP, and we want to further deepen this collaboration and expand it to include new opportunities. It is precisely where a real development need, a well-prepared project, and a competitive Slovak offer converge that space is created for further opportunities for Slovak exports,\u201d said Rastislav Podhorec<\/a>, CEO of Eximbanka. <\/p>\n\n

The significant role played by Slovak companies is also confirmed by their cooperation with the UNDP to date. Last year alone, the UNDP procured goods and services from Slovakia worth nearly 50 million euros. This volume highlights the ability of Slovak companies to successfully participate in international development projects and lays a solid foundation for further expansion of this cooperation. <\/p>\n\n

Eximbanka supports Slovak exports to more than 120 countries worldwide, and since 2021, following the successful completion of the Pillar Assessment, it has been authorized to indirectly implement European Union funds. This enables it to link traditional export financing and insurance instruments with development goals and European financial resources. <\/p>\n\n

The discussion also drew on the specific experiences of both institutions. In 2025, Eximbank supported the first pilot project under the preferential export credit scheme in Uzbekistan, totaling approximately 10 million euros, and is preparing its first development operation supported by EU funds under the Ukraine Investment Framework. At the same time, UNDP is collaborating with the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic on a project worth 1 million euros aimed at enhancing the readiness and bankability of municipal projects in Ukraine. Eximbanka and UNDP intend to build on their existing cooperation by further developing current mechanisms and exploring new ways to more effectively align the development priorities of partner countries, UNDP\u2019s capabilities, and the export potential of Slovak companies. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
